Clemens is getting overwhelmed

May 2, 2008

In the midst of Roger Clemens' legal woes, he is truly experiencing some real tough times. You name it, everything that could be brought up has. Whether it is is relationships with country singers, golfers wives, you name it, it has been brought up recently. In my opinion Clemens is truly fighting an uphill battle here. He has lost whatever respect that many fans had for him, and is more than likely to lose more as time continues.

Garza, Crawford carry Rays over Orioles

May 1, 2008

The surging Tampa Bay Rays have done it once again. They defeat the Orioles 4-2 powered by Garza and Crawford. There is one piece of bad news though, B.J Uptons shoulder is indeed in question. He left the game with a "Shoulder Strain" and we have not yet heard about the status of this injury. Upton is the Rays star center fielder and is indeed an integral part of the lineup. We hope to see him back soon.

Looking for saves? Try ‘alternative’ relief pitchers

May 1, 2008

The quest for saves can be a daunting one indeed. Bullpens are unpredictable, and player roles can change ever so quickly. In an thorough study of advanced fantasy baseball leagues over the past four or so years, there were more than 35% of relief pitchers drafted for saves who were no longer saving games by the end of the baseball season. What does this say about relievers? It simply says that this is indeed an unpredictable role. As a relief pitcher you are often asked to be either a long relief guy, an eight inning guy, a batter specialist, or a closer. These roles change like the weather for a lot of pitchers. For example, if a pitcher is starts as a long reliever, and simply struggles with right handed batters, but mows down lefties, you can expect that he may become more of a "specialist" as the season rolls on. Closers will sometime fall out of place because of their lack of ability to retire the batters in that very daunting situation. So remember,  relief pitchers are a hot commodity, and sometimes you might not get what you expect at the end of the season when it comes to them.

Yankees place Hughes on 15-day DL

April 30, 2008

Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique. The team made the announcement during Wednesday's game against the Tigers. Hughes, the youngest pitcher in the Major Leagues at 21, took a pounding in the Yankees' 6-4 loss to the Tigers at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.

Pettitte, offense stall in loss to Tigers

April 30, 2008

The bruised and battered Yankees sent out a lineup without Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada on Wednesday, something they'll have to get used to for at least the next two weeks. As New York's disabled list continues to swell, they can only hope to have other players step it up in the games following an uninspired 6-2 loss to the Tigers at Yankee Stadium.

Major League Baseball Blogs - An Important part of the sport

April 30, 2008

Baseball is truly America’s Pastime. Let’s face it, as Americans, we just cannot get enough of this sport. With so many games to watch, a fan can be easily overwhelmed, and it can be very easy to get lost in all of it. This article will help you to stay organized as a baseball fan. Why limit yourself to one team? Follow more than one..we will teach you how.

With the popularity of the web today, there are literally hundreds of ways to track your favorite teams, players, and news. Below I will list some of the more popular and well organized sites on the web. Need a place to dwell, then look no further than this list to guide you on your way. Do not get left behind and limit yourself to only the daily newspaper to follow your favorite sport.

Let’s start with the obvious ones:

1. Espn.com: This is your one stop for all sporting news, scores, trades, and rumors. Although this site can provide you with everything you need, it may be a little overwhelming and you may simply get sucked into the the “other” sporting news.

2. MLB.com: This one is, in my opinion, a very straightforward and easy site to use and keep up to date. This site lacks a little luster, as the articles can often be a little boring.

3. Foxsports.com: Same as above, but blends them both together.

OK, now for the fun stuff…. Fans need a place to interact, a place to simply unwind and say what is on their minds. These places are often best found in the form of forums and blogs. These sites are where the true fans dwell. Want a riveting sports conversation to partake in? Well you have found the right section.

Lets take a look at two very different varieties of these sites. The first one is the all encompassing Major League Baseball forum. These blogs will often cover all baseball news, and will often add some sort of value for the reader. They either allow them to interact, write their own articles, and most importantly actively participate in any and all discussions.

1.www.MajorLeagueBlogging.com - This site covers all of the major league baseball teams. They tell it like it is and can simply make baseball more interesting. Combine this fact with the fact that they do weekly giveaways of sporting tickets, memorabilia, and other cool stuff and you have got yourself a winner.

The second variety is the player/team specific blog. These blogs focus on a particular player or team. Let’s take a look at one of these:

1. www.TheJobaRules.com - Like the Yankees, or more specifically Joba Chamberlain, then this site is for you. This is just an example of one of the many individual player sites around. Like a specific player? There is probably a place dedicated to them!

Thanks for taking the time to read through these ideas. Please take a look at the sites listed above, and we promise you will not be dissapointed. Don;t be left behind in the wonderful world of baseball, get with the web and go!
