Astros beat Team Panama
-
The Astros topped Team Panama 7-5. Berkman and Matsui both went 1-3 with an RBI each. Chris Johnson, not on the depth chart, went 1-4 with 2 RBIs, but also 2 strike outs. The surprise player from this game was backup outfielder Jason Michaels, who delivered a 2-3 for performance with 3 RBIs capped off with a homerun.
Carlos Lee went 0-2 for with a walk playing for Team Panama.
Brian Moehler had a bad outing, giving up 5 runs, 4 of which were earned, in 3 innings. The rest of the bullpen was extremely solid, shutting out Panama.
I was more impressed with the tie against Venezeula than I am about the win over Panama, but the Astros are looking pretty good in Spring Training. It is hard to judge since mostly backups are getting playing time, but it is good to see the bullpen hold together.
The Astros next exhibition game will be against the Braves, so look for a recap of that and perhaps some player analysis in the near future.
